The rim was for disc brakes so I left it at that, and the tubeless tire immediately sealed to the rim after my blacksmith treatment. So two more wallops later and the hammer blows were still being resisted well, indicating that the rim hadn't cracked as expected. Getting back to the DT rim, I walloped the "body" of the rim with a 4# hammer hard, and noted that the rim sidewall had corrected about 60%. I'd done something like this in the past when I used the stationary jaw of a bench vise in the same way. ![]() What I did, for research purposes, was to slightly re-shape an anvil so that the edge of the anvil was inside of the rim. I recently was brought what looked like a worst-case dented-in rim sidewall on a DT mtb rim, the bead hook was almost touching the rim tape! ![]() Silver 32h MA for anything that looks the same and will take a direct swapout w existing spokes MA2 - MA4? but likewise havent found any proof that the dimensions are the same in any of the various charts google hath dug up for me i would kinda assume maybe one of the subsequent MA varieties would work. anyone happen to know what rims i might be able to find to swap out the dented MA? looking to do a straight up swap, spoke by spoke, but i have had zero luck finding either a NOS MA rim or information on what rims have the same diameter for to use the same spokes. The dent could easily be beaten out, if i had access to the correctly shaped "anvil" - does there happen to be any kind of catalogue of useful hard objects that will slide inside a 700c alloy clincher rim to allow one to bang the brake track flat in anyone's mind?īarring that. Botched a sequence of hops getting through a pothole minefield terminating in gnarly railroad tracks, and now i have a dented rear MA hoop i gotta fix
